Belle Curves

I definitely need to start shooting my own editorials, this desire's been itching me lately. I might not have a lot of current items, I do have a lot from vintage designers. And after having been shot by my boyfriend a few times, I have really become certain: I belong behind the camera!

resort 2013

Rochas, resort 2013

Back to the 1950's. Don't you love how light everything seems? The black dresses look perfect for events. The retro prints and silhouettes, pastel tones with kitten heels to top it off. I especially love the lace tracing the chest area and max skirts. Definitely needs to go to my summer closet, immediately. Must I add that they have beautiful bags in store for this collection?

news recap

in case you missed out...
This post will be continued to Friday, 22nd June, 21.00 WIB

H&M and Maison Martin Margiela collaborate.
I honestly am devastated by the overly different ideas of the two brands. Firstly, it should be noted that the house HAS collaborated with a shopping catalogue, but it is nowhere of the scale of H&M. The MMM brand is neither about accessibility, nor sales, nor trend. It is, however, of Diesel - its major stakeholder. It's disappointing to have to imagine people who have no clue of the designer/house and to simply purchase upon entering a H&M store. I would be surprised if the collection, like many others, sold out on the first day.

YSL dropping the 'Y', and not inviting press
I honestly thought it was disrespectful at first glance, and marks the death of the house being run by a brand-frenzy-minded Hedi Slimane. But I was very, very wrong. The Yves Saint Laurent name traces back to 1961, when the logo designed by Cassandre started being used. Let's not forget the name in 1966 was Saint Laurent Rive Gauche so according to a house rep, it's a merge between the old and new - Saint Laurent Paris.

I guess he really is trying to restore the origins of the brand. Many fashion houses (e,g. Balmain and Cristobal Balenciaga) refused to invite press and even pressed security before in order to prevent design copies. But this is not really the case with YSL, as I think that's the least of the worries of the global trend-maker. YSL, like many houses, is about exclusivity and respecting it so that customers have the luxury of seeing them first hand before anyone else. But not to worry, this will only apply to the Resort collection, and Spring Menswear.

LILY par Ben Hassett

photographer: Ben Hassett
publication: Numero, July 2012
model: Lily Donaldson

Today's just started, and industry news has packed to a height of the Everest. I'll share that with you later, so here's an editorial!

It's about some time since Lily's editorials have been any of my favorites, and finally Ben Hassett's work becomes an addition to my list. Lily channels a 'cupid' look with short, fringed bleached hair -no eyebrows- and berry lips. The styling's great! The blue-green tones and metallic accents are modern, complimenting, and also highlight Lily's fair, porcelain skin. The doff and blurred qualities of the images give the whole work a haunting finish.

LOOK AT THOSE KALEIDOSCOPIC PRINTS ;______;
some of the looks are added crystals and sequins, (e.g. around the chest of look 3) the shapes are also great. Those floral/glass print jackets have really good cut. Same goes for the purple jumpsuit on Josephine. Great. I just wish the shoes were a bit more bold and varied.

Cruisin' (2013)

3.1 Philip Lim
Loving the monochromatic scheme and prints. Those leather/pvc overalls are so cute!

Chanel
it's baroque x punk chic vibes from this collection shown at the Versailles. The pastels are so nice.

Balenciaga
Ghesquiere's collection is quite reminiscent of the Prada fall 2012 and spring 2012 collections, but I love the draping(s).

Marc Jacobs
the first thing (person) that comes into mind is; Frida Kahlo. The details are so pretty. Reminds me that I need more color in my wardrobe.

Celine and Chloe were such disappointments, after a good previous resort collection. The Row and Theyskens' Theory featured modern and sophisticated looks as usual; laid back and clean.
